4th of July

Sadly we didn't get to be in Wyoming at Matt's family cabin for the 4th of July this year.  Since the reason for not being able to go (having a baby soon) is a great one, I won't complain about it too much :).  Anyway, because we usually go up to the cabin we had to make some new, fun plans for Independence Day.  Luckily we have some great friends because Kortney and Clayton helped make it great!  In the morning, Kort and I went to the Freedom Days Parade and then later in the day Matt and I went to their house for a fun party.  We had a badminton tournament and believe it or not... Matt and I came in second!  It was a pretty proud moment in our lives let me tell you.  I was especially proud of myself because I had a few star moments and I gave it a good shot for being a week away from my due date.

After the party, we headed up to the MTC fields and watched the fireworks which were magical as always.  Our Fourth of July celebrations were a little different from being in Tensleep Wyoming where they throw candy and give out Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches after the parade, but celebrating with Matt and some good friends was perfect for me this year.

Dave & Maddie's Wedding

A few weeks ago my little brother got married to Miss Maddie Daines.  We love her.  My brother and I have always had a SPECIAL relationship so it was weird that he was getting married, but so fun too.  Anyway, they got sealed in the Logan Temple a few weeks ago and all of my family came in town.  It was a really fun and crazy weekend.  Oh, and yes I was a bridesmaid at 37 weeks. Anyway, here are some fun pictures from the dinner the night before, the wedding and the reception.  Everything was gorgeous!

The Schmidt kids and their spouses.  You can even see Sarah hiding out in the back.  We miss her and love her.
Matt and I in the Daines' backyard.  The view from their house overlooks all of Logan and it is super pretty.

Their entrance!  I was at a really bad angle :(

Today & A Tasty Snack

Today I went to the doctor and unfortunately nothing has changed too much since last week when I went in.  The doctor did tell me that he expected me to have my baby last weekend though so... who knows.  Maybe this little tike will come soon.  Anyway, after my appointment I did a bunch of errands including going to pick up my sweet "rock n' play" I was super excited to get for the baby.  Unfortunately sometimes Walmart is dumb.  Somehow they got all messed up and didn't have the right pattern for me to pick up.  Now I'm back to square one on this whole sleeper thing which is a bummer.  I don't know why none of the stores carry the cute ones.  Oh well.  Anyway, after I got home I started the laundry and made these tasty little snacks.  Matt and I are kinda in love with them.  I've tried making actual granola bars before, but they turned out pretty crumbly.  These little "poppers" as Matt would call them are delicious and definitely aren't crumbly.  I'm glad I trusted my good friend Mel.  Ok, really I just like to pretend she's my friend because she has no idea who I am.  Creepy?  Yeah, I know... it's ok.  I still think she's awesome.  Ok I'm done rambling now.  You should try these out though because they're pretty tasty.

PS- This is the Rock N' Play I ordered...
but this is what I found waiting for me at Walmart.  Do you see why I was disappointed?  Ok I'm going to get over this now.  I should stop being so dramatic haha.

GMM

Have you heard of Good Mythical Morning?  For the past few weeks Matt and I have been watching GMM every morning before he goes to work and it is quite entertaining.  Rhett and Link  (who I only really knew from their weird and hilarious buffet video) do a little ten minute video every morning that they post on Youtube and we have become big fans.  They're pretty odd sometimes, but it's turned into a fun little tradition.  Anyway, if you need a little entertainment you should check this out.  This is one of my favorites... Will It Taco?

Watermelon!

In case anyone is wondering... I am due in exactly one week from today! Happy 39 weeks to me!  It's so crazy to think that we're going to have a baby any day now, but we really are.  We are so excited to meet our little man.  Now if we could just decide on a name, finish decorating our apartment, and have a smooth delivery I'd be an extremely happy girl.

Oh and I've been waiting for this moment for nine months, but thebump.com finally says my baby is the size of a watermelon!  Throughout the school year I'd update my students on the size of the baby every Friday and we were all anxious for the watermelon week and... it's finally here!  I think maybe I'll celebrate today by eating an entire watermelon by myself haha.

Well, keep us in your prayers.  The doctor said things are looking good and he thinks we'll have our baby close to our due date so I guess now we just wait and see how things go.  In the meantime I'll keep eating pineapple and going on walks.  Oh... and I'll keep working on all my fun projects that I'm almost done with :).  Pics to come!

PS- Anyone have any guesses to how long or heavy the baby will be?  I was 7lbs and 9oz (I think) and Matt was a whopping 9lbs and 4 oz!  Your guess is as good as mine.

Happy 4th of July!!

Update on our Lives

So... it's been a while.  Things have been a little crazy for the last couple months and sadly most of my pictures are stored on my external hard drive right now (which I don't want to go through at this moment) so I'm not going to post any pics right now.  Anyway, I figured it'd be good to update the blog before our baby comes so here's my lame update.  Hopefully I'll add some pictures and stuff a little later on when I get motivated enough to go through the hard drive.

Here's what's been going on in our lives over the past couple months...

- Matt and I went to Salt Lake for our anniversary during the first week of May and had a blast.  We stayed at The Anniversary Inn which is a hotel where each room is decorated in a different theme.  Normally it's like $200-$300 a night, but a cute student of mine gave me a $100 gift card there (woot woot!) and they had a weekday special during May for like $130.  Basically... it was awesome and the best part?  They have delicious, free chocolate chip cookies in the lobby haha.  We had a fun little weekend though.  We went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and then had a great time at Tony Caputo's and Ikea the next day.  Little getaways are so nice.  It's so nice to take a weekend and "treat yoself".

- I had two really fun baby showers.  The first one was in Provo and the second one was down in Mesa.  Both turned out to be super cute and it was so fun to get cute things for our little man.

- After the craziness of the last few weeks of school including kindergarten graduation, I finished up my last year of teaching (for now at least).  I LOVED teaching kindergarten this year and it was a very bittersweet feeling, but I am so excited to be a mom.  The plan was always to teach for two years and then have a baby, but it's weird that it's here now.  Luckily, I am feeling great about this decision.  I'm definitely ready to stay home with our little boy, but I'm going to miss all of my students and friends and Freedom.  I was so blessed to be able to work there this past year.  Honestly... it's the BEST school ever.

- After getting through the school year, Matt and I packed up our apartment and then I left for Mesa.  While I was gone, Matt cleaned and painted our new apartment... and I do mean our ENTIRE new apartment.  He painted the walls, ceilings, trim, cabinets, doors, and closets.  It was a HUGE project, but considering basically EVERYTHING in the front rooms were baby blue (including the ceilings and trim), it definitely needed an update.  I am so grateful for Matt and the people who helped us.  I'm so glad I have a happy, inexpensive, and cute apartment to live in.
