Decisions Decisions

I have been so blessed to be healthy and able to work during pregnancy.  I often hear stories about TERRIBLE pregnancies and I am so grateful for mine.  This little guy is a trooper for not making me super sick (not that he's really in charge of that).  With that said... preparing to be a mom is stressful!  Of course I'm enjoying the excitement of everything, but it's like getting married all over again!  Ok not quite, but sometimes it feels pretty close.  I mean really, how in the world are you supposed to know what stroller to buy when there are like a billion choices?  Ok, I guess it really isn't that bad, but there are a lot of decisions to make and sometimes (even though it's fun to research) it's a little overwhelming. Even though I'm excited for this little man to come, it's a good thing that having a baby takes a while because we need to get crackin' on getting stuff ready for him and since Matt is still in school for two weeks and I have a month and a half left of work, we still have some work to do.

Well, the big decision this year has been what to do after Matt graduates from BYU.  Matt has been studying physics and acoustics and he really wants to be an acoustical consultant (sounds cool huh!).  Anyway, he applied to a few different grad schools several months ago and got into some of the top schools for acoustics.  A couple weeks ago, a school called Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York offered to fly Matt out to see their campus and learn about their program.  I was really hoping that going out there would make him either LOVE or HATE this school, but of course it made our decision harder.  We finally came down to deciding between staying at BYU and RPI (even though these weren't his only choices) and after a lot of praying and thinking we decided to stay in Provo for two more years.  After we finally decided things started to fall into place and the decision felt so right.  Of course New York would've been a little more of an adventure than staying in Provo, but BYU has an awesome program and it'll be nice for me to be around more people I know when I'm spending most of my time with a newborn.  We're hoping to eventually move into a different apartment to save some money, but we're really excited for our next chapter of life.  We kinda can't wait to be parents :)

The other big decision I recently made was to put a hold on my teaching career for a long while.  I love teaching kindergarten and I love my school, but it's time for me to be a mom.  I am so excited to care for this little babe.  I know at times it'll probably be frustrating and lonely, but I can't think of anything else I'd rather do with my time than raise my children.  I've spent two years trying to help kids be happy and love learning.  Now it's time for me to teach my own kids and I can't wait.

We're moving into a new chapter of life, but I'm excited because anything with this guy is a great adventure.

Spring Break

I had the best spring break this year.  My mom came to visit me and we got to work on projects for the babe and we got to go shopping and hang out... it was awesome!  I have to say though, it was a very productive spring break for the most part because we finished the baby quilt I had started, I crocheted two blankets and two burp cloths, we shopped a lot and got the babe some cute little man clothes, we made a bunch of strawberry jam, and we had a blast.  I am so lucky to have the world's best mom.  Seriously, I couldn't ask for a better mom or a better friend.  I'm so glad she came out to Provo to play with me :)

The finished project!  My mom stayed up until three o'clock in the morning finishing the binding by hand.  I'm pretty sure our little man already knows his grandma loves him!

One of my crocheted blankets.  I kinda love the whales.

Oh and here's when we finally announced to everyone that we're having a boy.  My mom was a champ and took these of me on our way to the airport.  I was just going to take pictures of the sign and the shoes, but she thought I should be in at least a couple of them.  So there you go... belly and all.

Oh and here's where we took a little selfie and my mom snuck the shoes into the pic. It's actually a beyond terrible picture of me, but I love her too much to not put this on here.

Fun Little Baby Moon

This is a very late post because this trip happened at the end of February, but I have to talk about it because it was the perfect little getaway.  Since I'm all high maintenance and everything (haha MOSTLY joking), I really wanted to go on a baby moon with Matt.  You know... just take a little trip somewhere before I'm too huge and before the babe comes.  Anyway, I had been talking about this idea of mine for a while when Matt gave in and found this cute little place in Moab called the Sunflower Inn and asked if I wanted to go with him.  It was seriously the perfect getaway.  I knew Matt had sacrificed to go because his semester had been crazy busy and I was just one happy little pregnant camper.

It was one of those little places where they make you feel so special.  When we first walked in, the innkeeper was whispering so that she wouldn't disturb any of the other tennants (cute haha).  Then she showed us all around and invited us to eat homemade cookies and hot chocolate or coffee whenever we wanted in the main room.  Then the next morning we had this really yummy breakfast that was made by the cook that lives on the property and I was seriously in heaven.  We decided to go drive around and go check out the visitor's center for Arches so that we could come back and camp someday and then we came back and had a yummy BBQ before heading home.

I would totally recommend this place to anyone because I loved it, but more than anything I am just so grateful for Matt.  He is such a wonderful husband and it was nice to spend time together and take a break from all the craziness of normal life.

 Haha... Love him.
This was my attempt to take a picture of us using our car. It was kinda a fail, but that's ok.

Our BBQ complete with Capri Suns

I couldn't contain myself.  It was too cute hanging on the shelf the whole time.
 Our cute little breakfast spot

This is the bench I had been dying to sit and read at.  We didn't have time to just hang out and read but I got to sit on my bench still haha.

PS- We got a major deal on this place because it was the off season, but it's supposed to be GORGEOUS in the summer. Maybe someday when Matt and I are rich (fingers crossed haha) we'll come back in the summer when the swimming pool is open :)
